We, the family with our dog, were all safely back in Turku. I, however, had one big task ahead of me. Sailing our boat singled-handedly back to Sweden, and to her new owners.

A Long Kiss Goodbye
After a few lovely days in Kalmar, it was finally time to start the journey back home. Sadly, this would also be the last sailing trip on our dear boat together with the whole family, Charlotte, the children, and our ship’s dog.
“It will be cool to see the Öland bridge,” I said to the children. “And when we’re this close to Kalmar, I guess we should go there too?”
Was That Lightning?
We were on the move again! After a few days in Nyköping, we were now heading back out through the (slightly) tight entrance fairway that had proved a bit challenging during our nighttime arrival. It was definitely easier with the lights on.
Ssh! It’s Bokö
We were sailing downwind out towards the open sea, slowly. And— since the wind had turned during the night— straight into annoyingly big leftover waves.
Moovin’ to the Groovin’
After two nights and one whole day of jolly swimming at our Kråkelund anchorage, we pulled the anchor to continue onward. Or actually, backward, since the wind had decided to turn.
After a week in the bustling city of Visby, and a nice sail over towards the mainland, it was time to enjoy the peaceful and rather secluded archipelago on the southeast coast of Sweden. And time to do what we all had been waiting to do since we left the Sand Island — jump into some refreshing water and swim!
From Fog to Unclear Destinations
After a bit less than one (very enjoyable!) week in Visby, we were all ready to head onwards and in the general direction of our next destination. We didn’t really know what that destination would be, though. “Maybe Kalmar?” we had loosely discussed the day before.
Rock On, Visby!
It was lovely to be in Visby again! We adored the place last time we visited, so it was clearly on all of our wish lists to stop by this time as well. “If you ask me, I wouldn’t mind being there all summer!” Charlotte said.
After an evening on the beach and a whole day walking around and exploring (a small part of) the beautiful island (a big thank you to the nice caretaker for the surprise private showing of the lighthouse!), we felt ready to sail onward.
